**DEFENCE MINISTER, GEN.MAGASHI HANDS OVER TO PERMANENT SECRETARY, DR KANA,mni**

The outgoing Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) has handed over the leadership of the Ministry to the Permanent Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Kana,mni.
 Documents containing details of his stewardship, from the day he assumed office to date were formally signed and handed over at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House Abuja. 
The brief handing over ceremony was witnessed by Management Staff, the Military and Civilian aides of the Minister.
In his remarks, General Magashi appreciated the support of the Permanent Secretary ,the Directors, staff and ministerial aides for his eventful, peaceful and successful four-year tenure of office.

The outgoing Minister appreciated the massive support of C-in-C, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, the cooperation and of the Chief of Defence Staff, General LEO Irabor and other Service Chiefs and their patriotic services in defending the nation’s territorial integrity under his supervision.
Giving his farewell advice, the Minister urged the Directors and staff of to cooperate with the Permanent Secretary who will oversee the Ministry till a new Minister is appointed, assuring them of his moral support at all times needed. 
In his response, the Permanent Secretary, Dr Kana, mni congratulated the Minister for successfully concluding his tour of duty and wished him God’s protection at all times.
He thanked the Hon. Minister for repositioning the Ministry and leaving it better than the way he met it four years ago.

Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) assumed office in the Ministry of Defence on the 21st of August 2019 being the 24th Chief Executive at the inception of the second term of the Buhari’s administration.
