Mr. SM Attah, fcasi was born on the 5th April, 1966 in Odolu Kogi State, Nigeria. He was employed into the Federal Civil Service as Personnel Officer II on Salary Grade level 08 in the defunct Federal Ministry of Culture and Social Welfare. He grew through the Cadre/Ranks as at when due till he was promoted a Director with effect from 1st January 2018.
SM Attah served in several Ministries which includes Federal Ministry of Information, Federal Ministry of Health, Ministry of Aviation, Federal Civil Service Commission, National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) and Ministry of Defence.
He is currently the Director Army Affairs Department in the Ministry of Defence. Some of the previous appointments held include Head, Protocol Unit Federal Ministry of Health from 1993 to 2012. Assistant Director, Economic Division in the Air Transport Department (ATM), Ministry of Aviation. Head of Human Resources, National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) and Deputy Director (Promotion) Federal Civil Service Commission. He was Deputy Director (Training & Staff Welfare) Ministry of Defence from March 2019 to November 2019 before his current appointment as Director Army Affairs Department.
He participated in several Committees, Conferences, Workshops, Functions and Operations within and outside Nigeria including: Member of the Committee on Iron Road Project in Africa, Head of Protocol 1st National Summit on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and other Infectious Diseases, Member Lobby Group for the actualization of Nigeria becoming a President of International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO), Member/Secretary, National Steering Committee on Flight Delays and Passenger Bill of Right among others.
SM Attah attended several courses commensurate to his Cadre/Rank which includes Human Resource Management Workshop, Centre for Management Development (CMD) Lagos from 5th to 20th January, Human Recourse Training and Development Solution, United Arab Emirate (UAE), Dubai from 5th to 20th January 2015, Strategic Public Relation, Protocol & Travel Management Crystal Palm Hotel Accra Ghana from 2nd to 15th November 2008, Executive Leadership & Workshop on High Performance United Kingdom from April 16th to May 14th 2018,

He has also travelled to several countries in the world, which includes Mozambique (Africa), Angola (Africa), South Africa, India (Asia), Dubai (UAE), Singapore (Asia), Chile (Latin America), France, Turkey, Egypt, Geneva, Switzerland among others.
He holds WAEC Certificate from Idah Secondary Commercial College (ISCC) Idah, IJMB/A Level from School of Basic Studies, Makurdi, BSc. (Hons) Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Master of Arts (MA) International Law and Diplomacy, Faculty of Law, University of Jos and presently doing his PHD in Peace and Conflict Studies at the Nassarawa State University, Keffi. He was posted to the then Borno State for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and was deployed as Zonal Corps Liaison Officer (CLO) in charge of Biu, Damboa, Damaturu and Gujba Local Government areas between 1988 and 1989 for the Primary assignment
He holds membership of many professional bodies, among which are Nigerian Institute of Management, Institute of Public Administrators of Nigeria (IPAN), Society for International Law and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators.
SM Attah loves reading, listening to gospel music and travelling. At his leisure time he likes walking and keeps fit.
He is married and blessed with 4 Children.
