From the desk of the Director Reform Coordination and Service Improvement
The role and position of the Ministry of Defence has intensified and taken center stage due to the peculiar times the nation faces, I therefore, wish to express my profound gratitutde to the Hon. Minister, Maj. Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd) and the Permanent Secretary, Mr . Musa F. Istifanus for their understanding and approval for the review of the ministry’s Service Charter as a mark of transparency, thrust of service that will satisfy the aspiration of stakeholders in the current dispensation.
Vision
“In recognition of the challenges of the millennium, a military sector with modernized equipment, well trained in all aspects of military operations, fully professionalized, compact and mobile with adequate equipment, fire – power and communications, capable of fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities and performing its international peacekeeping role proudly and efficiently”
Mission
“To provide administrative and support services, timely and effectively to enable the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria build and maintain a modern compact, strong, professional, mission-capable and mission ready Armed Forces, for the defence of the National territory, maritime interest, airspace and the protection and defence of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and to contribute to peace-making and peace keeping duties worldwide under sub- regional and global organizations of which Nigeria is a member.”
I thank all the Directors of the Ministry for their goodwill, input and encouragement towards this course. I also thank the Service Improvement Officers, Charter Implementation Officers and specially all the departmental Focal Officers for ensuring that the proper mandate of their Departments are reflected in the Service Charter. I also appreciate the guidance from the SERVICOM representative.
It is my delight to appreciate the staff of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Department for their painstaking effort towards collating coordinating and editing all the departmental submissions to ensure that this Service Charter is up to standard.
As part of the efforts by the Department of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement to establish ways to improve service delivery processes and ensure a delightful citizens/customers service experience, the SERVICOM Day Celebration in MOD was marked on 2nd December, 2021. The event was aimed at creating awareness and enlightenment to reach a wider range of customers.
This entails the distribution of awareness materials with symbolic messages to the staff of the Ministry of Defence, display and placement of sensitization materials at all service points within the Ministry of Defence Headquarters.
On this note, I would like to encourage all staff and customers of the Ministry to acquaint themselves with this the services provided by the MOD as a guide for proper service delivery.
