AS PART OF HIS EXTENSIVE SECURITY ASSESSMENT TOUR OF THE NORTHWEST, THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF STATE FOR DEFENCE, H.E. DR. BELLO MUHAMMED MATAWALLE, MON, VISITED GUNDUMI VILLAGE IN SOKOTO STATE. DURING THE VISIT, DR. MATAWALLE ASSURED RESIDENTS THAT THE LONG-CLOSED GUNDUMI-ISA ROAD WOULD BE REOPENED, WITH A MILITARY CAMP ESTABLISHED TO IMPROVE SECURITY AND BOOST ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES. HE REAFFIRMED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S COMMITMENT TO ENDING INSECURITY IN THE REGION, STATING, “NO STONE WILL BE LEFT UNTURNED.”

DR. MATAWALLE ALSO MET WITH TROOPS AT THE FORWARD OPERATING BASE IN SABON BIRNI, WHERE HE COMMENDED THEIR EFFORTS IN DEFENDING THE NATION AND PROMISED PROMPT ATTENTION TO THEIR WELFARE. ACCOMPANIED BY THE SOKOTO STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR AND TOP MILITARY OFFICIALS, THE MINISTER FURTHER ANNOUNCED PLANS TO ESTABLISH A MILITARY BASE BETWEEN SABON BIRNI AND TSAMAYE TO ENHANCE REGIONAL SECURITY.
