Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd) has urged the Nigeria Army and the Armed Forces in general to continue decimating terrorists, bandits and insurgents so as to rid the country of all criminalities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference in Abuja, the Minister who was represented by the Director Army Affairs in the Ministry, Mr. Sunday Attah, expressed confidence in the capability of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the war against insurgency, while urging the Service Chiefs to eliminate terrorists as soon as possible.

Magashi commended the Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs for putting in place measures to achieve joint synergy among the services in the ongoing operations across the country.

“I am bold to say that due to the doggedness of the officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces and Nigerian Army in particular, peace is gradually being restored to all the troubled areas in the country” he said.

The Minister however, noted that “One major concern of the Ministry of Defence is the drive to achieve jointness and unity amongst the three Services especially in the conduct of various ongoing operations within the country… more synergy is required to ensure that all operations on ground reflect that jointness in all ramifications for greater successes”.

He also used the opportunity to commiserate with the Armed Forces and families of those personnel who have paid the supreme price to keep the country safe and implore the Service Chiefs to ensure that those wounded in action are given the best medical attention possible. “I assure you that the Federal Government will continue to support the families of those who lost their lives and the wounded personnel.
