NATIONAL DEFENCE: RESTORING PEACE TO TROUBLED SPOTS NOT NEGOTIABLE, MINISTER OF DEFENCE……….ASSURES ON ADEQUATE EQUIPMENT TO PROSECUTE MILITARY CAMPAIGNS.

The Minister of Defence Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) has restated government’s commitment to restoration of peace in the troubled spots in parts of the Country.

General Magashi stated this in a remark as special guest of honour at the Defence Headquarters 61st  Independence Anniversary dinner held at the Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess, Abuja.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to addressing critical challenges facing various commands.

The Defence Minister assured that it is by so doing that the attainment of National security objectives of government can be met.

The Special Guest of Honour had earlier conveyed the commendation of the

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the military in the preservation of National security.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha who shared his personal relationship with top Military officers dating back to 1981 during his service year in Lagos said the efforts of our heroes past shall never be in vain.

Earlier in his opening remarks the Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor pledged continued loyalty of the Military to the constituted Authority.

General Irabor said the dinner for the 61st Independence Anniversary was conceptualised to reward some Officers, ratings and Soldiers who distinguished themselves in battles.

He made Specific mention of the gallantry of late Lt Col Abu Ali and encouraged others to emulate his outstanding legendary Performance in service to the nation.

The Special Guest of Honour led other dignitaries in the Anniversary dance after the presentation of plagues, certificates and cash awards to the highly elated recipients.
