Since the advent of COVID-19 in Nigeria, the Federal Government had adopted various measures in the workplace to combat the spread of the dreaded virus especially as it affects gatherings, meetings, trainings thereby resulting to reliance on online deliberations.
However, it has been noted that most staff of the Ministry do not have the requisite knowledge of ICT to conveniently tag along with this new trend of online communication. In this regard, the Ministry through the Department of Planning Research & Statistics organized a 2 week capacity development program on virtual communication with Zoom in focus.
The course outline covered includes:
- Basic Computer Appreciation
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Scanning and Printing
- Use of Internet and e-Government
- On-line Communication Technology (Zoom Video Conferencing)
The Permanent Secretary who was represented by Mr. Benson Odaman; Director, Planning Research & Statistics (DPRS) at the commencement of the course informed the participants on the need to be in tune with the current technological trends and its applications to guarantee efficiency and real time service delivery. He further assured the participants that more programmes designed to upscale the staff performances would soon be presented.
At closing session of the programme, the DPRS congratulated the participants and enjoined all to put best use of the newly acquired knowledge to every facet of their life both in MOD and beyond, certificates of attendance were thereafter presented to them.
