A delegation from the USA Armed forces paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Nuratu Batagarawa in Ministry of Defence. In her welcome Address, the Perm Sec MOD welcomed the delegation on behalf of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Permanent Secretary answered questions from the delegates bordering on National Security, the Nigerian Armed Forces vision and the roles Ministry of Defence play regarding the Nigerian Armed Forces on the political level.
The head of the US Armed Forces delegation, Rtd. Gen. Brian Eifler expressed his delight at the reception the US Envoy got from the Permanent Secretary and staff of Ministry of Defence. He stated that the delegates are all on a mandatory training exercise for their respective promotions and consist of mainly Rear Admirals and Brig. Generals. The Leader of the US delegation to the Ministry Catherine Gibbons spoke about the readiness of the US Armed Forces to share values with the Nigerian military in addition to sharing and sensitization of interagency information between government agencies.
