Dr. Johnson Olajide Omoshalewa

Director (Health Services Department)

Dr. Johnson Olajide Omoshalewa hails from Lagos Island LGA of Lagos State. He attended Government College Ketu, Epe Division and obtained his WASSCE in 1982. He gained admission to study Medicine and Surgery in the University of Lagos and bagged (MBBS) upon graduation in 1988. He did his Housemanship at the Military Hospital Yaba, Lagos in 1988, and then proceeded to Amphibions Battalion Nigerian Army, Abak Akwa-ibom state, where he did his Youth Service in 1990. Dr. Johnson gained employment with the Ministry of Defence, as a Medical Officer in 1991.

Until his present position, he had worked as the Co-ordinator for the Nigerian Navy, Ministry of Defence (Civilian Cell) HIV/AIDS Programme, Co-ordinator Nigerian Navy Reproductive Health Programme, Training Commander for Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital Ojo and Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He was the Chief Medical Officer, in 35 Artillery Brigade Medical Centre, Nigerian Army Alamala Abeokuta and Mokola Barracks Ibadan.

Dr. Johnson conducted and attended numerous trainings, conferences, and seminars both locally and internationally in Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health, Syndromic management of STDs and HIV, Project Management Course, Interpersonal Communication Skills and Infection, Prevention, & Control (IPC), amongst others. His wide experiences in the health care sector, which span clinical, managerial, policy and strategic planning levels enables him to be a team builder and facilitator for improved healthcare services.

Dr. Johnson is a Chief Medical Officer on GL 17 and was the Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital Ojo Lagos, before he was posted to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters on the 27th August, 2020 to assume the position of Director and Head of the Health Services Department. Dr. Johnson is happily married with grown up children. He enjoys fishing/farming, and watching football.
