Mrs. Iro Otuwe Ikenga was born on the 9th of August 1959 and is an indigene of Ebem Ohafia , Abia State Nigeria. She attended Ebem Pimary School Ohafia, High View Primary School London, Stratford Grammar School, Forest Gate, London E. 7 respectively before she proceeded to Brooklyn College, Brooklyn New York. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1981 at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife.

In 1982 after her NYSC, she was employed by the Federal Civil Service Commission as an Administrative Officer II GL 08 and posted to the National Population Commission Lagos from 1982-2004. Within this period she coordinated the training of Census Personnel in the 13 Federal Universities Nationwide in preparation for census in 1991. She was the Special Assistant to the Presidential Adviser (Legal & Constitutional Matters) in 2004-2006.

She served as an Assistant Director at the Political Affairs office Department of the OSGF from 2006-2007. In 2007, she was posted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs till 2010. Thereafter, she was an Assistant Director in Expenditure Department of the Budget Office of the Federation, Ministry of Finance. She was later posted to the Ministry of Agriculture where she served as Deputy Director Policy, Plans & Programmes Department in 2011 and also in the Ministry of Women Affairs for a brief period before being redeployed as Deputy Director Navy Affairs Department, Ministry of Defence where she rose to the position of a Director. She presently serves as Director Army Affairs Department.

Between 1982 to date, Mrs. Iro Otuwe Ikenga has undertaken several Ad-hoc assignments in various capacities which included but not limited to the Secretary, National Conference on Census in 1991 Data in Yola, Secretary International Conference on “Census 1991” Data in Abuja, Maintaining Liaison with the National Assembly; attending to matters on Nigerian National Merit Awards  and coordination of the National Honours Awards Committee (NHAC) activities, Analysis and Review of Political Events and Developments in the country and beyond. She has attended several conferences and training programmes both home and abroad. 

She is happily married with children and grand-children and enjoys swimming, cooking and travelling in her spare time.
