Dr. Uchenna Joy Ikokwu an indigene of Idemili, hails from Anambra State.
She completed her Primary Education at All Saint’s Primary School, Enugu in 1966 and her Secondary School in the Prestigious Queen’s School, Enugu in 1973 after which she proceeded to St. Theresa’s College, Ibadan in 1975 for her “A” levels.
She obtained her MB.BCH from the University of Nigeria Medical School, Enugu Campus in 1981 and her Post Graduate Studies from University of Lagos Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos, and qualified as a Consultant Radiologist in 1996.
She is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and International College of Surgeons (FICS) as well as a Life Member of the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
She started her career in the Federal Civil Service as a Medical Officer with the Nigerian Army Medical Corps under the Ministry of Defence in 1984. Subsequently, she served as the Head of Department (Clinical), Department of Radiology, Military Hospital Yaba and Ikoyi between the year 2001 and 2010 and rose to be appointed the Head, Medical Services of the Ministry of Defence in 2010.
At leisure, she enjoys playing Piano, reading, swimming and travelling.
She is married and blessed with grown up children.
