Nigeria to partner Germany - Perm Sec
Nigeria is to partner with the people and government of the Republic of Germany for sustainable development.
Ambassador Sheni stated this when the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Michael Zenner paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
He said that the people and government of Germany have a long history of support to Nigeria, not only in the defence sector, but also in other sectors including power, agriculture and water resources. Adding that Nigerian government is committed to building partnership with the German government.
The Amb. thanked Germany for its support in the fight against Boko Haram and global terrorism.
He noted that the German Parliament has approved funds towards supporting the fight against terrorism in Africa; and solicited for the Germans support in the fight against terrorism in Chad, and the Cameroun.
The Permanent Secretary concluded that the ministry will send an official request cataloguing the areas of interventions to the people and government of the Republic of Germany.
Earlier, the German Ambassador, Amb. Michael Zenner extended his condolences to the Nigerian government on the terrorist attacks in the country, stating that terrorism is now a global phenomena and called on all hands to be on deck to fight terrorism.
Amb Zenner promised to ensure the completion of its projects in Jaji Cantonment Medical Center, Defence Workshop and the Mega transport Project.
The German Ambassador stressed the need for better cooperation and commitment between the civilians and military personnel in executing to enhance national defence.
