All hands must be on deck against terrorism
The Honourable Minister of Defence, Alh. Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali has called on all the security agencies and the Nigerian public to join hands in the fight against insurgency and terrorism in the northeast of the country.
The Ministry made this call at the formal reception in his honour as the Honourable Minister of Defence organized by the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. (Dr.) Abdul'aziz Yari Abubakar, in Government House, Gusau.
Minister Muhammad Dan Ali said that Boko Haram insurgency and terrorism is not only a Nigerian issue but a global problem as witness in other regions of the world.
Alh. Dan-Ali reaffirmed his commitment to provide excellent services in line with the change mantra of the present government. Adding that President Muhammadu Buhari has provided needed support and logistics to facilitate the fight against insurgency in the northeast of the country.
Earlier, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. (Dr.) Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar congratulated the Honourable Minister on his new appointment, stating that since 1999 the state has never taken part in decision making at the Federal level until this time around, when one of their sons is appointed minister.
Governor Abubakar prayed God to help him succeed in his sensitive office, as the Honourable Minister of Defence.
In his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Abdullahi Muh'd said that the people of Zamfara State are highly honoured and rejoice with Alh. Dan Ali who has been elevated to the respected position of Honourable Minister of Defence, adding that for President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint Mansur Muhammad in his cabinet shows that he has a clean track record and this is the reason why they have gathered to rejoice with him.
The Honourable Minister and guests were treated to a curtail. Dignitaries that graced the occasion include the Director Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Alh. Musa Saeed Talle who represented the Permanent Secretary, Former Governor of Zamfara State, Distinguished Senator Sani Yerima, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai who represented the Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs, Commissioners and Local Government Chairmen of the state, Emirs and traditional rulers in the state.
