Min. of Defence to collaborate for peaceful elections
The Minister of State for Defence, Col. Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu (Rtd) has confirmed that the Ministry of Defence will collaborate with other Government Security Apparatus to ensure a peaceful election throughout the nation.
Col. Akobundu (Rtd) made these statements when he met with the Permanent Secretary and Directors of the Ministry, in Abuja. He said that the Ministry of Defence alongside several government security apparatus like the Nigerian Police, Civil Defence Corp, the State Security Services and others, will ensure that law and order are maintained in calm and peaceful environment in every designated polling area, before, during and after elections are conducted.
The Minister also solicited the cooperation of all well meaning Nigerian in their diverse and varied categories which cut across partisan and non partisan individuals’ educated and non-educated, young and our well respected elder-statesman and women to assist government in every way possible to achieve this noble target of a peaceful election into various offices in Nigeria.
Col. Akobundu (Rtd) wishes all Nigerians, especially those contesting for various elective positions the best of peace and tranquility throughout the electionery period and beyond.
