Hon. Min of State for Defence assumes duty
The newly appointed Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Col Augustine Akobundu has assumed duty at the ship house, Abuja.
While Receiving the new Minister of State, the Honourable Minister of Defence, Lt Gen Aliyu Gusau Mohammed (rtd) said that the deployment of the retired col will rejinger the giant strike already achieved by the ministry.
He welcomed the minister and employed him to settle down to face the challenge ahead.
In a response the new minister said that his posting to the Ministry of Defence is home coming, having served in the armed forces of the Republic.
He stated that his experience as a former military officer will be brought to bear in his present office.
Collectively, he said, “the present security challenge in our country will be handle and will be a thing of the past.”
Col Augustine Akobundu said his primary responsibility is to ensure that the efforts made by the armed Forces will be sustained.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Aliyu Ismaila said that the Ministry is happy to have the retired col back in the ministry.
He said that the staff of the ministry are loyal, sincere and are always punctual as is the case in the military traditions.
The Permanent Secretary introduced the management staff to the minister adding that they are result oriented.
